How to buy a bond in India
- Government securities, T-bills and state loans: open a free account on RBI Retail Direct and bid at auction, or buy through your broker.
- Listed company, PSU, bank and tax-free bonds: through your stockbroker, or any online bond platform registered with SEBI. Check registration on the SEBI or exchange website first.
- Public NCD issues: apply while the issue is open, through your broker or bank (ASBA or UPI), like an IPO.
- Gold bonds: no new tranches are being issued; earlier ones trade on NSE and BSE.
Artha Nakshatra does not sell bonds or take orders, and is not paid by any issuer or platform.
How the Bonds Desk works
We show facts about bonds. We do not say which bond to buy, and nothing here is personalised to you.
Terms, prices and ratings come from RBI, CCIL, FBIL, depositories, exchanges and rating agencies. Each bond names its sources and dates.
A bond’s price changes through the day and many bonds trade rarely. Check the live price with your broker before you act.

The Artha Bonds Desk lists bonds and other debt securities issued in India, with information drawn from public sources: the Reserve Bank of India, the Clearing Corporation of India, Financial Benchmarks India, the depositories (NSDL and CDSL), the National Stock Exchange, BSE and the credit rating agencies. Yields, durations, cash flows and other figures are calculated by Artha Nakshatra from that information and may differ from those of other sources. Information may be delayed, incomplete or out of date by the time you read it.
Nothing on this page is an offer, a solicitation, investment advice, a research report or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, and it is not personalised to you. Ordering, filtering and charts are tools for finding bonds; they do not rank bonds. Credit ratings are the opinions of the agencies named, not of Artha Nakshatra. Artha Nakshatra is not an online bond platform provider or a stockbroker, takes no orders, and is not paid by any issuer, arranger or platform for showing a bond.
Bonds carry risks, including the issuer not paying (credit risk), prices falling when interest rates rise (interest rate risk), not finding a buyer when you want to sell (liquidity risk), and the issuer repaying early (call risk). Additional Tier 1 bonds can be written down or stop paying interest. Read the offer document or information memorandum on the exchange website and consult a SEBI-registered adviser before investing. Investments in securities markets are subject to market risks; read all related documents carefully before investing.
